COVID-19 has without question altered our lives as we once knew them. It has introduced new challenges to clinicians, administrators, and public health officials to both deliver healthcare and curtail the spread of the pandemic. To make matters worse, new waves of cyber attacks have been introduced that directly take advantage of the fear, uncertainty, and modified work arrangements that COVID has forced upon us. At this critical time in healthcare, never before has the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of healthcare information been so critical.

As with all cybersecurity attack vectors, an informed workforce is the first line of defense. In this presentation, information security experts who are dedicated to the healthcare industry will describe this new wave of attacks associated with COVID and how they seek to exploit the modes of operating that have been necessary to continue the delivery of healthcare amid the crisis. The presenters will share direction from the Department of Homeland Security’s Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency (CISA) and other authoritative sources and will provide insights into detecting and protecting against these attacks.
